One Turkish student was killed by supporters of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and another was critically wounded after two rival student groups clashed at the İzmir-based Ege University on Friday.
Tensions ran high at the university late on Friday when a group of students who support the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attacked Turkish students with sticks and knives. One of the Turkish students lost his life.
Ambulances and riot police were dispatched to the university after the clash and the two students were immediately hospitalized. Some fascist PKK supporters tried to prevent the ambulance which takes Çakıroğlu to the hospital. Fırat Yılmaz Çakıroğlu, Turkish student who was attacked by the terrorist students, died at Ege University Hospital he had been taken to while Nurullah Semo, the attacker student and supporter of PKK, is still under treatment with life-threatening injuries at Tepecik Teaching and Research Hospital.
Çakıroğlu, a history student, was a leading member of the youth organization affiliated with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) known as Ülkü Ocakları. The organization’s president Olcay Kılavuz said Çakıroğlu was the head of the organization’s members at Ege University. Kılavuz said the young man was killed by supporters of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The MHP also said on its official Twitter account that “Çakıroğlu was martyred by pro-PKK traitors” and issued condolonces for his death.
